Jamie outs her 15-year-old secret
Jamie in 2016 said:
“I didn’t tell anyone [about my multiple sclerosis]. It’s very surreal because it’s an event that I used to go to and would think, ‘No one even knows I have this. [And yet], I’m one of the people that will benefit from this.”
Elaborating on this largely misunderstood disease, Jamie had said:
“There can be different stages of the disease, or different types of MS. I have relapse remitting MS, which means that my symptoms can come and go. Usually when you stay on treatment, those flare-ups happen less and less.”
Her emotional phases after her diagnosis
It was not easy for Jamie to make her disease known to the public. She had to fight with herself a lot before she did it.
Even on the morning after her revelation to the public, she was unable to accept the fact that she had told the world about her disease and cried a lot over it. But now she feels better at what she did.
Jamie said:
“I wasn’t good about in the beginning. I was in denial, so I was sort of rebelling against it. I didn’t take my medication. I didn’t want to live a life thinking about MS because I wasn’t symptomatic. But when I began to be, I realized how important it was.”
Jamie-Lynn came to terms with her disease and accepting it started taking her medicines loyally. She blogs on the disease for other people who suffer from the same disease.
She also said:
“We all have something. And MS is my something.”
It was her hypnotherapist who told her to not be too secretive about her disease. He said to her:
“Your secret is keeping you sick. Your only way to find any type of healing is to release yourself. You didn’t do anything wrong, and you’re walking around like you did.”
A couple of sessions with him boosted her confidence and she dared to come out with her disease. She who was initially worried that people may feel that she is fragile and weak if she told them about her disease ultimately gathered enough courage to tell the world that she suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis
It is a degenerating chronic condition in which damage to the coverings of nerves in the brain and spinal cord occurs. Communications between parts of the nervous system are disrupted leading to symptoms-physical, mental, or emotional.
As per the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, there are 4 main categories of the disease remitting RRMS (what Jamie has), primary-progressive MS (PPMS), secondary-progressive MS (SPMS), and progressive-relapsing. Each of these courses may be mild, moderate, or severe. The majority (85%) of MS have the category that Jamie has got.
