Hilaria Baldwin opens up about her and Alec Baldwin’s controversial age gap
Hilaria Baldwin gave birth to seven children but she is a mom to eight.
The yoga instructor wife of actor Alec Baldwin revealed that the couple’s bizarre dynamic amid criticism of their large age gap of 26 years is not a problem for her.
In an interview with Romper that came out on Thursday, Hilaria told,
“Am I his mommy? Sometimes I’m his mommy. Sometimes,”
She explained,
“At the beginning of our relationship, everyone was like, ‘She must have daddy issues because she’s married to somebody older,’”
“But it’s actually the opposite.”
Hilaria was 39 years old when she met Alec, 65, in 2011 in 2011. The couple tied the knot in June 2012.
The lovebirds then went on to welcome daughter Carmen, 9, son Rafael (“Rafa”), 7, son Leonardo (“Leo”), 6, son Romeo, 5, son Eduardo (“Edu”), 2, daughter María Lucía (“Marilu”), 2, and daughter Ilaria, who turns 9 months today.
Despite that many kids, Hilaria still manages to give all of them two baths a day- one in the morning and another one before bed.
The Boston native said,
“They’ll literally just line up,”
“And we go 1, 2, 3, really fast, hair, shampoo, in and out. I spray them.”
The podcaster added,
“When I was younger, I read ‘Cheaper by the Dozen,’”
“And the only thing I remember about the book is that they figured out the most efficient way to use a bar of soap.”
Baldwin would love to have more kids
Hilaria also explained that she loves giving birth and compared the situation to ‘‘going down a water slide that’s really scary.”
The doting mommy claimed,
“And then you get to the bottom, and you’re like, ‘I want to do this again,’”
While the fitness enthusiast delivered all of her kids naturally, she welcomed Marilu via surrogate after two terrible miscarriages.
After years of trial and error, Hilaria became a pro at breastfeeding too.
She shared,
“Right after I have a baby, I pump all the time, but only for three minutes, just to stimulate production,”
“At this point, I freeze about 30 to 50 ounces a day on top of feeding [Ilaria]. … I have four gigantic freezers for milk.”
But Mrs. Baldwin feels that the “joke’s on [her] because this baby doesn’t really like bottles so much.”
She added,
“And I’m like, ‘Well somebody’s going to drink this. I made it. You’re going to drink it!’”
