Princess Catherine’s Mother’s Day photo gets into trouble
Instagram slams Princess Catherine and her three kids’ most controversial Mother’s Day snap!
The social media giant added an “altered photo” warning to the royals’ snap after the Princess of Wales admitted to editing it.
The message read “Altered photo/video,” in red under the now-viral snap. “The same altered photo was reviewed by independent fact-checkers in another post.”
Instagram users who click the messages can see more details about the warning.
It further read,
“The same altered photo was reviewed in another post by fact-checkers,”
“There may be small differences. Independent fact-checkers say the photo or image has been edited in a way that could mislead people, but not because it was shown out of context.”
Insta’s latest warning message comes almost a week after the Princess of Wales, 42, shared a snap with her and husband Prince William’s three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, amid conspiracy theories about the future Queen’s whereabouts.
Soon enough, many fans noticed that the photo was heavily edited.
After that, many photo agencies also released a kill notice message notification regarding the mother-children snap.
A message from the Associated Press (AP) Reuters read, “At closer inspection, it appears that the source has manipulated the image,”
Who edited Catherine and her kids’ photos?
After facing backlash for the photo, Catherine released a statement issuing an apology, revealing that she was the one who did the editing.
The mom of three tweeted from the official account she shares with her husband,
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,”
“I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
Kensington Palace, however, refused to release the original version of the photo despite the blunder.
Catherine was admitted to the hospital in January for abdominal surgery.
She has not been seen in public since the hospital release except for blurred photos that have been released of her riding in the car alongside her mom, Carole Middleton in Windsor.
However, the princess will make her first public appearance in June at the Trooping the Color parade which celebrates the official photos of King Charles III.
