Isla Fisher breaks her silence post-divorce

It has been a bad patch of the life of Australian actress, Isla Fisher, 48. She separated from her husband, English actor and comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen, 52 last month. She requested for privacy from all at that time. After having come over the situation a bit, Isla broke her silence and spoke to her social media fans for the first time.

The actress uploaded a pic of herself on her Instagram stories. She was in a purple dress that had prints on it and a green denim jacket. This post was on 14 May 2024 and Isla was outdoors on a sunny day. She wrote below the post:

“Thank you for all your kindness and support.”

The relationship timeline of the couple

The two first met in their early youth days in 2001 at a party in Sydney, Australia. Sacha had revealed in October 2020:

“She was hilarious,”
“We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did.”

They began dating and Sacha proposed to her in 2004. She said yes. The two said I do to each other in Paris in March 2010. The couple has three children together: a daughter born in 2007, another daughter born in 2010, and a third child, son born in 2015.

In December 2021, they celebrated their 20th anniversary of togetherness with sweet messages on their respective Instagram accounts.

Most of the time, they kept their private lives out of the eyes of paparazzi. In 2022, Isla told Australian Women’s Weekly:

“I get nervous talking about it, because I feel like, by not having my relationship in the public domain and not having spoken about how we met or really talked about our marriage publicly, it’s remained something private and valuable to me.”

The same year, Isla also told E! News:

“I don’t want to stand on a soapbox and advise anybody, but if you marry someone that you have a really good friendship with, everything else seems to fall into place.”

She continued:

“You still get butterflies in your stomach and people sort of tell you that wears off after a few years,”
“But when you’re with the right person, actually it just doesn’t.”

Divorce announcement of the couple

All seemed well until last month when the two gave a joint statement about their separation and divorce. They posted a photo of them in tennis gears on their Instagram stories and put up a joint statement that read:

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”
“We have always prioritised our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change,”

“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. And, we sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
