Jada Pinkett Smith opens up about her marriage to Will Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith admitted that Will Smith‘s 2022 Oscars controversial slap saved their marriage.
In an interview published with Daily Mail on Sunday, the actress said,
“After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him,”
“Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?”
The Red Table Talk Show host and the Oscar winner tied the knot in 1997. However, it was revealed in October that the two had secretly separated for seven years.
Jada also revealed how the Oscars night changed everything for the couple when her husband slapped Chris Rock for making fun of his wife’s alopecia.
The Nutty Professor actress said,
“I call it the ‘holy slap’ now because so many positive things came after it,”
Pinkett Smith said that she was glad she attended the event despite nearly missing it.
She added,
“That moment of the s–t hitting the fan is when you see where you really are.”
Internet users, however, were not convinced by Jada’s statement. One wrote,
”Why do I feel like she’s grasping at straws here for us to believe her? Seems like she’s trying to sell us her version of the truth, but then she talks in circles and sometimes contradicts herself. I’m not buying it.”
Another wrote,
”Because she’s a malignant narcissist and likely a longtime psychological abuser who is desperate to be seen as a victim and a hero.”

Will showed his support to Jada’s memoir
However, many revelations about Pinkett Smith, 55, and her husband, 55, shook the internet nearly two months ago when the former released her tell-all memoir, Worthy.
The book detailed the couple’s marital struggles and hinted at her affair with singer August Alsina. However, Will stood by his wife’s decision to release the book.
The Pursuit of Happyness star said during his appearance onstage alongside his wife in October,
“We have had a very, very long and tumultuous [relationship]. We call it ‘brutiful.’ It was brutal and beautiful at the same time,”
The star also thanked his wife for supporting him and added that his dreams were “largely built on the foundation of Jada’s sacrifices.”
Smith’s mail to the New York Times also said that Jada’s memoir “woke [him] up.”
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum wrote,
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in,”
“And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”
The couple shares kids Jaden, 25, and Willow, 23.
Jada also had similar sentiments. She told InStyle on October 17,
“You never stop learning about your partner,”
“It gave [Will] such intimate insight into everything in a way that I don’t know if he would’ve had without a book.”
“I think that’s been a huge benefit. It’s really beautiful.”
