Jasmine Goode and Melissa Marie, a lesbian couple from The Valley, recently got engaged.
They have been dating for four years and chose to propose to each other during a vacation in Italy.
Jasmine was surprised when Melissa proposed to her at Villa Monastero in Lake Como. She expressed her astonishment, noting that they had both been considering engagement and looking at rings for some time.
The 37-year-old TV personality said,
“Before I could even propose to her, she surprised me, which I was blown away [by].”
Melissa had originally planned an “intimate and memorable” proposal in Europe. However, once they booked tickets to Mallorca, she suspected that Jasmine might take the opportunity to propose during this trip.
So, Melissa took the initiative to propose to herself first. She shared,
“But the one thing I did say is my dream would be something in Europe, Once [we booked our tickets for] Mallorca, I was like, ‘Oh, I think she might try to use this opportunity to propose. But I wanted to give her a special proposal because she deserves it. It wasn’t just about what I wanted.”
Furthermore, she shared her excitement about the location, recalling,
“I was like, ‘OK, this cannot be more perfect because she absolutely loves being here. .. We went to this place called Villa Monastero; It’s one of the most beautiful villas and gardens around Lake Como. You just walk around and look at the beautiful water. I even found this spot that is notorious for best views and best sunsets.”
On the other hand, Jasmine had no idea that Melissa would propose and thought they were simply going to take a photo. She revealed,
“I thought we were just going to take a photo or a TikTok. But then she got down on one knee, Then the next day I just kept thinking, ‘I hope she doesn’t think I don’t have a ring for her.’ But my plan still had to go down. So I was trying to figure out how to keep this under wraps for a day.”
After Melissa’s proposal, Jasmine pretended that she did not have a ring to keep her own proposal plans a secret for one day.
The following day, Jasmine proposed to Melissa.
Jasmine Goode and Melissa Marie: Celebrating engagement and future plans
Jasmine and Melissa are celebrating their recent engagement while also looking forward to their future together. She expressed their desire to start a family soon, stating,
“We both want to start a family really soon, That’s our main goal.”
However, they plan to get married before having children, as Jasmine mentioned the importance of marriage to their families. She said,
“We both want to be moms and for us, we do want to make sure we’re married first. That’s something that means a lot to our family, So we wanted to just jump on it. It felt right.”
In an April interview with The Daily Dish, Jasmine mentioned that she and Melissa are considering freezing their eggs to prepare for starting a family while acknowledging that they might face challenges.
“Because it’s definitely going to be a struggle for us, It’s not going to be easy.”
Melissa recalled the moment she realized Jasmine was the one for her, saying,
“We just have been so busy with the show and with life. [Now we] finally had time to slow down and find our rings, so it just all made sense.”
She reflected on how quickly things progressed in their relationship after moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles.
“After one or two dates, I decided to stay a little longer and then I ended up just moving. It just was how natural and effortless it was to be with her.”
Jasmine also revealed that she knew Melissa was meant to be her wife from the very beginning. She said,
“The moment I actually met her years ago, we were just friends. I knew she was always going to be my wife, but I just didn’t figure out how.”
She remembered telling someone about her intentions to marry Melissa even before they were officially dating.
Co-stars reaction to Jasmine Goode and Melissa Marie’s engagement
The newly engaged couple have shared their engagement news with their co-stars from The Valley. Goode mentioned that her friends Brittany Cartwright, Kristen Doute, and Zack Wickham were eagerly asking if she had proposed yet.
After they announced their engagement, Goode expressed her appreciation for the support they received from their friends, stating,
“They’re so excited and I love how supportive they’ve all been.”
Marie felt grateful for the help from their friends during the engagement process. She explained that they consulted Wickham about rings, and he even went ring shopping with Goode.
Marie noted that Doute was aware of the impending proposal and had been anxiously waiting for it. Additionally, Luke Broderick sent her little gifts to help with the proposal.
Viewers of Bravo can look forward to seeing the ring shopping experience in the upcoming season of The Valley.
Marie shared that they did some shopping together, and Goode added that fans will see more of Melissa this season.
Marie expressed her excitement about showcasing their relationship on screen, saying she was more involved this year and eager for everyone to see their journey.
There is a possibility that their wedding may also be featured on the show. Goode revealed that she would be open to this idea, and Marie confirmed her willingness as well, stating,
“You sign up to do the show so you open your life to be on display.”
