Jason Derulo is accused of sexual assault by his former artist Emaza Gibson
On Thursday, October 5, Emaza Gibson filed a complaint against R&B star Jason Derulo for sexual harassment in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Emaza is a 25-year-old aspiring pop singer, rapper, dancer, and content creator. She has worked with the “Whatcha Say” singer since last year.
In her lawsuit, Gibson claimed that Derulo dropped her from his label after she refused to have sex with him. She stated Derulo contacted her in August 2021 to sign her to his label Future History as a solo artist.
They began working together in November 2021, with the promise of collaborating on an album. At the time, Derulo put pressure on her constantly to consume alcohol and engage in sexual activity with him.
She stated that there was an “explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success.”
Similarly, she acknowledged that Derulo once told her that if she wanted to be successful in “this business,” she “would be required to partake in ‘goat skin and fish scales,’ which is a Haitian reference to conducting sex rituals, sacrificing a goat, goat blood, and doing cocaine.”

According to the lawsuit,
“The manner and timing of such a statement meant that Derulo was demanding sexual acts from [Gibson] in order for Derulo to fulfill his role as her mentor, supervisor and musical collaborator.”
Alongside Jason, the case filed in LA Superior Court names Atlantic Records, Future History, RCA Records, and his manager, Frank Harris.
As a result, Jason is accused of seven counts, including sexual harassment, sexual harassment, failure to prevent and/or remedy harassment, retaliation, intimidation and violence, breach of contract, and breach of good faith.
