She was in a long-distance relationship with Algerian accountant Minou. And now it has ended thanks to COVID-19. This happened a few days ago.

More FM radio host Jay-Jay Feeney was happy for her new love. But it seems the relationship has all ended now. She broke up with him a few days back since it was difficult to keep this long-distance relationship under the present world situation due to coronavirus. Jay-Jay is in New Zealand while her boyfriend Minou is back in Algeria which is his hometown.

She revealed to The Stuff NZ:

“I suggested it,”

“It was mutual though because we both understand we have no choice.”

When the reporter asked her whether the travel restriction due to the coronavirus pandemic was in any way responsible for the breakup, Jay-Jay answered in the affirmative.

Her last post about Minou on her Instagram was on 5 May 2020. She had uploaded a selfie of the two and captioned it:

“This is the moment I met Minou in the flesh in the Maldives in 2018. I miss him”,

This post was followed by a crying face emoji.

The relationship of the couple and the age difference

Jay-Jay was born on 28 March 1974 and is aged 48 years now. Her ex-beau Minou is 28 years old. There is an age difference of 18 years between the two. Jay-Jay had met Minou online in early 2018.

They began chatting and soon Jay-Jay hit off with the 28-years-old accountant. Minou hails from Algeria and the couple waited for more than a year before going public with their romance in October 2019.

Jay-Jay revealed on her Drive Show that she is dating someone special and is really into him. Minou had come over to New Zealand in December 2019 to meet Jay-Jay and the two had spent a lovely time together. They had a great road trip and Jay-Jay had documented it on her Instagram.

Minou then returned to Algeria in January 2020 and Jay-Jay was again saddened by it. She said at that time:

“It’s quite hard because I don’t know when I’ll see him again.”

Jay-Jay’s hard last few months

The last few months have been really trying for Jay-Jay. Besides being in a difficult long-distance relationship with Minou, she also lost a near relative to coronavirus in March 2020.

This family member was residing in Denmark and Jay-Jay said:

“It’s funny how you take something more seriously when it personally affects you… My cousin in Denmark died of Coronavirus on Friday and his wife is in the hospital with it. My mum is super upset about it, and it feels so close to home,”

She further advised everyone:

“It’s not a joke, it’s not a beat-up, it’s a serious situation and we need to listen to the advice we are given from the government.”

“I did not know him. My mum is in regular contact so she is upset. I just feel so sad for her and the rest of my family in Denmark. It really just hit home how serious the virus is,”

Her cousin was 68, she said.
