Jeannie on being Asian
After the breakout of coronavirus cases in the world, another thing that has been more prominent is anti-Asian racism. As per reports, there are now more than 1,100 weekly public incidents of harassment both verbal and physical directed at Asian Americans.
Also, a Chinese American man who was attacked by several people in San Francisco, an Asian American man, and his two young children who were brutally stabbed at Sam’s Club in Texas, and an Asian American woman who was doused with acid outside her New York City home go unreported.
All of this and Jeannie have fearlessly called out racist and xenophobic sentiments on her social media feeds. She has come out like that after backlash from irate followers who’ve attempted to silence her.
Likewise, there are comments about how they believe Asians deserve these attacks, while others have aired their ignorance, writing about how all Asians are born with the coronavirus.
Even President Trump referred to the coronavirus as the “Chinese Flu,” while members of the Republican party have reportedly joked it’s the “Kung Flu.”
