Jennifer Garner encouraged Ben Affleck to save his marriage to Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Garner “encouraged” her former husband, Ben Affleck, to instead work on his marriage with Jennifer Lopez. It was prior to the pair choosing divorce, an anonymous source said.

“When things started getting rocky between Ben and Jennifer [Lopez], Jen was very supportive of their relationship and encouraged Ben to work on their marriage.”

The “13 Going on 30” actress, 52, “had even become friendly with Jennifer and they were communicating regularly.”

However, sources say that Garner “hasn’t been in touch” with Lopez, 55, recently, although she “has no problem with Jennifer.”

“At the end of the day, she just wants Ben to be happy,” our source explains.

Garner’s rep did not respond immediately to requests.

The ex-couple, divorced in 2015 after a 10-year marriage, has three kids together: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

How is Affleck coping with his divorce with JLo?

Despite Garner’s efforts, Jennifer Lopez, 55, filed for divorce exactly two years after their Georgia wedding ceremony. It was wherein they performed a surprise elopement in Las Vegas last July 17, 2022.

As previously reported, Garner and Affleck reunited at Thanksgiving as they teamed up with the Midnight Mission to feed 2,000 homeless and near-homeless people. They even feasted at Garner’s Brentwood home, in California, afterward, along with their three kids.

A source said at that time that the Oscar winner felt “blessed” to be surrounding himself again with Garner and their children. He felt great support having them around on Thanksgiving, right after breaking up with Lopez.

“Even though Ben and Jen [Garner] have been split for a while now, he feels a certain level of comfort with her,” the insider said at the time.

“Ben has a strong relationship with Jen that will never dissipate because they have a lot of history together and she’s the mother of his kids.”

The source added, “They’ll always be close because they share children together and maintain a friendly co-parenting relationship.”

Why did Affleck and Lopez’s marriage fail?

In late August of this year, the Dance Again singer shocked everyone by filing for divorce from her husband of two years. In the court’s documents, she listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024.

The day the news of their divorce broke, it also coincidentally happened to be their second wedding anniversary which was a lavish Georgia wedding ceremony. The wedding took place after they eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022.

In the filing, the actress did not mention whether she and her now estranged husband have a prenuptial agreement in place. Sources, however, claim that they do not have one.

Rumors of their split peaked around May of 2024 when they were said to be visiting couples therapy.

Neither commented on the rumors. However, a week later, for whatever reason, the “Air” actor was pictured without his wedding ring.

This was slightly more conclusive evidence that some major disruption had happened to their relationship.

TMZ then reported that Affleck was not living at their mega-mansion in Beverly Hills anymore.

According to the outlet, the Oscar winner was sighted taking refuge at a Brentwood house for about a week—approximately 30 min away from their home in Beverly Hills.

He was pictured coming out and going in from that property very often without the “Jenny from the Block” singer.

Attentive fans later deduced that the couple had not been photographed together in over a month and a half.
