Joe Biden apologizes to Muslim Americans for his insensitive comment on the death toll in Gaza!
War broke out between Israel and Hamas, Palestine on 7th October 2023. Since then, numerous people have lost their lives. Gaza health ministry released a figure for the number of casualties.
In a press conference, the President of the USA, Joe Biden expressed skepticism of the figures. This insensitivity on his part angered the American Muslims. Joe had to apologize.
The casualties during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war
Since 7th October 2023, there have been attacks from Israel on Palestine to eradicate the terrorist group, Hamas in Palestine. The Gaza Strip is most affected. Numerous innocent people have lost their lives in this onslaught and many of them are women and kids.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health released the figures for the death toll in its area. The report stated that around 14000 people have been slaughtered in this war.
And The New York Times had reported that 10000 of these deaths were women and children. This is sad and inhumane.
Joe Biden raises skepticism
The current President of the USA, Joe Biden has been sending military and financial aid to Israel to eradicate Hamas. It has pledged support to Israel.
Additionally, recently, Joe and other international player countries like Egypt and Qatar had negotiated a deal between the warring nations to have truce and release hostages both sides.
USA wants to see to it that Hamas is removed from power in the Gaza strip.
Following the release of data on death toll in Gaza, Joe had a press conference on 25 October 2023 at the White House.
During this press conference, Joe expressed doubt on the figures of fatalities that Gaza Health Ministry had released. He felt that the deaths were lower and that Gaza Health Ministry had exaggerated the numbers. Joe said:
“I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed.”
American Muslims get angry
This doubting statement of Joe at the press conference at the White House angered the Muslim citizens of the USA.
Washington Post reported that the next day, prominent representatives of the Muslim community of the USA met Joe and expressed their anger at what he had said the previous day.
The reps criticized Joe for his insensitive comments. They shared true stories of American civilians who lost their family members in the Gaza in this war.
Washington Post had also done a fact-check on the death data. Its findings revealed that Joe was uninformed. It added that his skepticism does not speak good of the president.
He lacks historical awareness and no president in the past has done such a blunder in the history of the USA.
