John Bird dead: Comedy Partner Rory Bremner leads tributes to his co-star aged 86

Actor and comedian John Bird passed away on December 24, 2022, almost nine years after his comedy partner John Fortune left this world! May his departed soul Rest in Peace.
His renowned comedy partner Rory Bremner is leading tributes to the late Bird addressing him as”one of our great satirists”. Honoring Bird who died peacefully on Christmas Eve aged 86, Bremner tweeted,
“Deeply saddened to hear that the great John Bird has left us. One of the most modest of men and most brilliant of satirists. And one of the last surviving pillars of the anti-establishment.”
The family funeral services of John Bird who died at the Pendean care home would be conducted on New Year as the sources confirmed. Comedy fans rushed to Twitter to write condolences to their late favorite comedian Bird tweeting,
“John Bird had an immense talent to look deadly serious while saying some of the most bizarrely funny things. RIP.”

Earlier, the Bremner, Bird, and Fortune trio became famous in the ’90s. They were also nominated for four BAFTAs and won a TV award for their performance in 1997.

Now only one is left, with the first one to die being John Fortune dead at 74 on New Year’s Eve in 2013. Bremner in his Tweet added,
“It’s an irony that one of our greatest satirists, so brilliant at portraying ministers, civil servants or high-ranking officials who exuded self-satisfaction, was himself so modest and self-effacing.
The late comedian whose sketches mocked politicians and public figures will be remembered because of his witty nature has his memorial services to be held soon. Bremner continued,
“John Bird was, to the end, never pleased with himself, always feeling he should have done better, been less lazy, had a late period like Brahms, ‘where everything was spare and abstract’.
“The reality was that he and his friend and collaborator John Fortune, together with Peter Cook, were pillars of the anti-establishment.”

Who was John Bird?
John Bird was the veteran English comedian who rose to prominence in the 1960s with the show That Was The Week That Was.
Likewise, summing his career highlights he has worked in the fantasy comedy film Jabberwocky. Meanwhile, his comedy on shows like Yes, Prime Minister, Chambers and One Foot In The Grave, and A Very Peculiar Practice won hearts.
His other credited appearances in detective show Jonathan Creek, Inspector Morse, and Midsomer Murders were worth watching.
