Champion Golfer Kathy Whitworth rests at 83
US Legendary golf player Kathy Whitworth is dead at the age of 83. She collapsed on Saturday night while celebrating Christmas Eve with loved ones, her longtime partner Bettye Odle.
As the LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan released a death statement paying homage to the late golfing champion. On recalling her golfing career of her (from age 15) who won more U.S. tour golf tournaments than any other pro golfer, she told,
“The golf world and the world, in general, lost one of its most incredible women. Kathy was a champion in the truest sense of the word, both on the golf course and off.”
The Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth’s surviving partner Bettye Odle mourned for her while biding her a final goodbye saying,
“Kathy left this world the way she lived her life, loving, laughing and creating memories.”
Iconic tennis player Billie Jean King on the loss of fellow athlete, Kathy Whitworth (AP Female Athlete of the Year in 1965) Tweeted,
“I had the honor of meeting her. She loved her sport, and was a trailblazer and a true champion. May she rest in peace. She inspired me as a young girl and now as the commissioner, and I know she did the same for so many others. We all mourn with Bettye, her family and the entire golf world.”

Highlights of the Golf career of Kathy
Kathy Whitworth was a record-breaking champion who had 88 LPGA victories, one of the highest the current record of any single player.
The US woman who set a World Record as the first women’s pro golfer to earn $1 million in career earnings in 1981 is dead. Her rivalry with Mickey Wright interested most golf lovers in 1959, and now her career highlights rest easily on US Golf History.
Kathy who won her first title in 1962 was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1982, twenty years later. She retired from her golfing career in 1985, and that was the last time we saw her as the champion.
