The second marriage of Katie
The 60-year-old star journalist tied the knot with her banker fiancé John Molner in an intimate ceremony in East Hampton Saturday, People magazine reported. They didn’t want the ceremony to be big so they did it with 50 friends and relatives.
“We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key,”
Couric told People before the ceremony.
“This is not my first rodeo so I didn’t want to go too crazy and neither did John.”
Molner’s children, Allie and Henry, performed readings — as did Couric’s daughters, Ellie, 30, and Carrie, 25. The groom’s nieces and nephews were ring bearers and flower girls, and Couric’s youngest daughter, Carrie also sang for the couple.
The veteran TV personality got engaged to Molner, 58, in September 2013 after nearly two years of dating. The former “Today” host actually asked Molner to help her pick a dress.
“I hope this isn’t bad luck but I actually tried it on for him,”
Couric told People before the wedding.
“I tried on a number of dresses and I was so busy. I had a crazy spring.”
Due to her busy schedule and recent job at Yahoo she was not able to participate a lot in wedding plans. But her groom was there to help her in every step. It was the second time down the aisle for both Couric and Molner.
“I call John ‘Groomzilla!'”
Couric joked to People.
“We’re a very modern couple.”

The First Marriage
Katie was first married to John Paul Monahan 3d, a lawyer and NBC News legal analyst in 1989. She gave birth to their first daughter, Elinor Tully “Ellie” Monahan, in Washington, D.C., in 1991; their second daughter, Caroline “Carrie” was born in New York City in 1996. Her husband died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.
Couric then became a spokeswoman for colon cancer awareness. She underwent a colonoscopy on-air in March 2000, and, according to a study published in 2003 in Archives of Internal Medicine, may have inspired many others to get checked as well:
“Katie Couric’s televised colon cancer awareness campaign was temporarily associated with an increase in colonoscopy use in two different data sets. This illustrates the possibility that a well-known individual can draw attention and support to worthwhile causes.”
Past Relations
Katie Couric has many past relationships and they were not successful. She has been in relationships with Jimmy Reyes in 2006 and ended in the same year, Chris Botti from 2005 to 2006, Tom Werner from 2000 to 2004, and Carroll Lesesne from 1999 to 2000. Katie Couric has encountered Bob Saget and Jeff Probst.
