Katy Perry struggled to find her seat at Westminster Abbey
Katy Perry is one of the hundreds of lucky ones who got to witness the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey.
The Roar songstress arrived in London on Saturday morning to see the crowning ceremony of the new monarch.
For the special occasion, the 38-year-old entertainer wore a gorgeous lavender suit set by the late designer Vivienne Westwood. She paired her classy knee-length dress with a short-sleeved blazer and matching gloves.
Perry accessorized her look with a matching hat, pear earrings, a white purse, and a pearl necklace that costs $430.
The Firework singer’s choice of both color and designer was undoubtedly a tribute to British culture. Purple has a historical relation with royalty and the late designer was also from the UK.
Vivienne who died in December 2022 was famously called the “high priestess of punk.” She once revealed that she was not wearing any underwear when Queen Elizabeth II awarded her the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1992,
Inside the abbey, the mother of one briefly struggled to find her seat and wandered around for a bit. It amused Twitter users and did not take time in becoming a meme.
One fan wrote,
“me as a kid going aisle to aisle after getting lost in the grocery store ,
Another royal watcher watching the service commented,
“This is a new reaction vid if I’ve ever seen one.”
A third user added,
”the way she’s trying to look for her seat with that hat, it’s adorable and funny at the same time,”
Perry is an ambassador for Charles’s nonprofit organization
On Sunday, the musician is all set to perform at the coronation concert on Sunday with Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli. She has taken a short absence from American Idol to perform at the coronation.
She said in a statement last month,
“I am excited to be performing at the coronation concert and helping to shine a further light on the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund, whose work includes on-ground initiatives to fundraising, with the aim to find solutions to child trafficking,”
Charles, 74, and Katy met during a charity event in India in 2019. The following year, he appointed the singer as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
The nonprofit organization was co-founded by the royal in hopes to tackle poverty in South Asia.
Perry said last week that she would be staying at Windsor Castle during her UK visit.
She gushed,
“I’m really excited,”
“I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.”
