The man who became the iconic voice of Batman in multiple TV shows passed away at the age of 66.
Diane Pershing, a voicing actress who worked alongside Conroy on various projects confirmed his passing via a Facebook post.
She wrote in her post:
“Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday,”
”He’s been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world.”
It is reported that Kevin was battling cancer for some time.
The iconic Batman star died of intestinal cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Conroy became the iconic voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne in “Batman: The Animated Series,” from 1992 to 1995.
His unique, gravelly voice was so well suited to the cartoon character that he went on to voice him in multiple other projects for more than 20 years.
However, Kevin’s last project was ”Justice League vs. the Fatal Five,” the 2019 animated film which was a part of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.

Batman fans mourn Kevin’s demise
Many Batman fans including several famous figures in the comic book world mourned Kevin’s death on Twitter.
Film critic Zaki Hasan tweeted:
“Kevin Conroy is gone. His deep and distinctive voice was the definitive sound of Batman for several generations of fans. I’m absolutely stunned and devastated. RIP,”
Mortal Kombat Co-creator Ed Boon also paid homage to the icon by writing:
“So sad to hear about Kevin Conroy. He was THE voice of Batman for generations, including our ‘INJUSTICE’ games. So iconic. What a loss. RIP.”
Fans also flocked to Twitter to pay their last tributes to Conroy. One tweeted:
”He was taken away from us too soon. Yet he also left behind a legacy like no other rest in power kevin Conroy god speed he will be missed.”
Another one wrote:
”RIP Kevin. They picked the perfect voice for the Batman. Definitely a legend.”
Kevin was born in Westbury, New York on November 30, 1955, into an Irish Catholic family. When he was about 11, his family moved to Westport, Connecticut, where he was raised.
What most people don’t know is that he attended Juilliard when Robin Williams was his roommate.
After graduation, Kevin did Shakespeare plays, soap operas, and sitcoms. He also did some small roles in Murphy Brown and Cheers.
But Conroy’s acting career reached a great height when he began voicing Batman in 1992 when he was in his mid-30s.
Kevin was openly gay all his life. People praised him earlier this year for telling his life story titled Finding Batman, which expresses his life, and experiences as a gay man. The story received critical acclaim as soon as it was released. He was married to Vaughn C. Williams.
