Chance the Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, and his wife Kirsten Corley are no longer married.
On December 13, 2024, Corley officially filed for divorce from Chance after nearly six years of marriage.
The filing comes eight months after they announced their separation in April 2024 through a joint statement on Instagram.
In April 2024, the 31-year-old hip-hop star and his then-wife wrote on Instagram,
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways, We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”
The estranged couple also shared two daughters Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5. However, it is currently unknown whether Kirsten Corley is asking for spousal support or child support from Chance the Rapper because the court documents are not accessible online.
In a statement released in April, the couple expressed their intention to co-parent their daughters, stating,
“God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together.”

Chance the Rapper first met Kirsten Corley when he was just 9 years old at an office party hosted by his mother.
They reconnected a decade later at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2012 and began dating shortly thereafter.
In September 2015, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kensli.
However, in 2016, they briefly separated when Corley filed a petition in Cook County Circuit Court to establish Chance as the father and to request child support, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
In January 2017, Kirsten Corley withdrew her petition for child support after reconciling with Chance the Rapper.
A year later, Chance proposed to Kirsten during a Fourth of July celebration in their backyard. He also shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) just hours later, stating,
“She said yes,”
In March 2019, Chance the Rapper married his longtime girlfriend, Kirsten Corley, at a glamorous ceremony in Newport Beach, California. The wedding was attended by many of his famous friends, including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Dave Chappelle.
Days before the wedding, Chance reflected on their first meeting by posting on X, expressing his certainty about marrying Kirsten when he said,
“I knew I was gonna marry that girl, Sixteen years later it’s happening. This wknd is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”

What caused the rift between Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley?
Although they generally kept their relationship private, Chance made headlines in April 2023 when he was seen dancing inappropriately with another woman during a party in Jamaica.
In the video, the Grammy-winning artist was shirtless and standing behind model Mela Millz, who wore colorful Carnival attire. She danced against him while he playfully slapped her butt.
A representative for the couple told TMZ that they were “all good” after the incident went viral, but Chance’s estranged wife shared a different perspective on social media.
About a week later, she posted a quote about maturity from Maya Angelou’s essay “Home.” The late poet reads,
“Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it, They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older.”
The passage continued,
“But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It means you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy. It’s serious business.”
Furthermore, Corley included a mysterious message with the artwork, saying,
“I hope one day, we all choose to grow up.”
