Ben Cohen popped the question to Kristina Rihanoff during their romantic Maldives getaway
Congratulations to Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff on their engagement.
The rugby player asked Rihanoff to marry him during their recent holiday in the Maldives.
The couple first met and fell in love after being partnered up on the 11th series of Strictly Come Dancing in the year 2013. Ben was married to someone else at the time.
Together they share a daughter Mila.
Elated Kristina, 45, revealed when Ben, 44, got down on one knee, it was ‘the biggest surprise of my life.’
The dancing star revealed that the surprise proposal happened in midst of their 16-day holiday.
Ben had planned everything in advance and he took her on a boat trip to a nearby island. There Kristina saw a heart made up of lit lanterns and ‘Will You Marry Me?’ written in the sand.
The Russian dancer said:
”Although we’d talked before about getting married one day, I hadn’t the slightest idea that Ben was planning this.”
”I was overcome with emotion and said ‘Yes, yes and yes’ straight away. My first reaction was wow.”
She continued:
‘It was absolutely surreal and I couldn’t believe what was happening. I’m usually very perceptive but I didn’t have a clue Ben had been planning this. How he managed to keep it a secret was amazing.’
Ben, who is thankful that everything went as right on that special day, said:
‘I wanted us to go further forward together and taking a holiday in such a beautiful place felt like the perfect moment to do that.
‘Setting the scene had to be really special and with the help of members of staff at the resort, we achieved that.
‘It was truly incredible and blew me away.’

Ben and Kristina’s business went down during the pandemic
Now, the soon-to-be-married duo is planning to celebrate their engagement with their family members and close friends.
Kristina added:
‘After eight years with Ben, our love is stronger than ever.’
The couple suffered a massive business loss during the pandemic, with their SooYoga holistic well-being business.
The couple also previously noted that they did not receive any financial support from the government and that took a toll on their mental health.
Talking about how their relationship got stronger during the tough time, Kristina said:
‘It’s easy to love someone when everything’s rosy but it’s a different story when life becomes a challenge.’
Cohen on his part added:
”Every love story has its honeymoon period but that eventually goes.
‘Love has different meanings and for me, that’s a relationship with a partner who’s been through difficult times with me and together we move forward.”
‘She’s the person I want in my life forever.”
The couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Milena, on June 24, 2016.
Ben also has 13-year-old twins Harriette and Isabella from his previous marriage.
