Zaya Wade, the eldest daughter of the retired basketball star Dwyane Wade paid tribute to late basketball legend, Kobe Bryant in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The 14-year-old personality posts a picture wearing a #8 jersey dress showing love to Kobe Bryant on two-year anniversary of the death of the Los Angeles Lakers star. Zaya also captioned the post.
She wrote,
“always remembering and honoring Kobe and Gianna.”
Kwame Brown on Zaya’s post
The former basketball player Kwame Brown said the disrespectful gesture in a video shared on his YouTube channel. He told,
“You are letting your woman control your house”. It seems he referred to Wade’s wife actress Gabrielle Union, who is Zaya’s stepmother.
He then continued, “I’m not saying there’s anything against homosexuals, but Kobe is a heterosexual man. Why is he being honored by making his jersey into a dress? Wear his jersey for the day to honor him without the dress part,”
Bryant and his 19-year-old daughter Gianna lost their lives in the helicopter crash with seven other people on Jan 26, 2020.
He also added, “Let’s please not show our Black brother in this light. This is no offense to nobody else. This man was a heterosexual man with a wife and a family. There’s no reason for this to be tied to Kobe Bryant.”
Wade has yet to respond regarding Brown’s statement. However, he has been supportive of Zaya commenting ‘girl dad’ in the comments on Zaya’s post.
