The dating period for the couple
The show is called The Little Couple since both Jennifer and her husband Bill are short-statured.
Both suffer from a genetic skeletal disorder called skeletal dysplasia which gives rise to stunted growth and bone problems.
Jennifer and Bill both have a height below 4 feet. Jennifer Arnold is 3 feet and 2 inches tall while her husband Bill has a height of 4 feet.
Bill and Jennifer had met for the first time in the hospital when they were 10 years of age. Bill was in the hospital for physical therapy while Jennifer was there for surgery.
They had a common orthopedic surgeon for the treatment of their orthopedic problems which are commonplace with the type of skeletal dysplasia that both have.
Hence they used to meet often in the Baltimore hospital and clinic. Their surgeon and nurse had tried to set them up many times but in vain. Their official meeting came when Jennifer was 32 years old.
This time it was through a dating website. Their first date was at Starbucks in Pittsburgh. They spoke for three hours and decided to take their friendship to the next level.
They got married in 2009 and renewed their wedding vows in 2014. Since Jennifer cannot have children, they adopted Will from China in March 2013 and Zoey from India in October 2013. Will is now 7 years old while Zoey is 6. The small family is happy and going on with their life smoothly.

Skeletal dysplasia
Both Jennifer and Bill suffer from skeletal dysplasia. It is a term that includes several conditions in which the patient’s bone and cartilage growth are affected. This results in short stature or dwarfism. The cause is genetic due to a gene defect.
Due to the abnormal growth of the cartilage and bone, the patient has defective growth and several orthopedic problems. These may require surgery and physical therapy to correct the condition.
Luckily brain development is not much affected and children are born with normal mentation. The condition has no cure and only palliative treatment can be offered for such cases.
