Louise Lear does the vanishing act on COUNTRYFILE program of BBC One! Know also about Louise’s on-air giggling fit!
BBC One’s recent technical Gaffe during the COUNTRYFILE broadcast
On 13th August 2017, BBC One’s COUNTRYFILE program faced a technical hitch during its weather forecast session.
COUNTRYFILE is a British TV program which highlights and talks about the people and life of the British countryside. The gaffe occurred when weather girl Louise Lear was giving the weather report.
Let us see how the whole incident unfolded.
BBC weather presenter Louise Lear was presenting the tea time weather bulletin on the program COUNTRYFILE on 13th August 2017. As she was in, she suddenly disappeared from the screen and the graphics froze.
She then reappeared and told the viewers:
“Unfortunately, my weather graphics have just crashed on me, so I will continue with the weather story.”
Louise laughingly added:
“I don’t think we’re going to be able to do this for much longer.”
Louise continued giving the weather updates while the screen continued to remain frozen. The presenter realized that she may not be on air and went on to say:
“If you can still hear me, we’re likely to have showers.”
The report was then abruptly ended and the screen went totally blank. The broadcast resumed but with a split-screen showing half of the BBC logo and some of the weather map.
The program host then was heard saying:
“Well, I’m sorry, we seem to have lost Louise there and the weather. We’ll try to get back as soon as possible.”
Hesitating a bit, the host added:
“If not… we’ll return the final part of Countryfile here on BBC One.”
There were some more moments of silence with the same strange screen before the host’s face was flashed who then said:
“Well, apologies we can’t continue with the weather here on BBC One but we will return now to Countryfile.”

Louise Lear’s laughing incident in August 2016
Just one year back, there was another incident with Louise Lear where she could not stop giggling while presenting the weather report. It was not a technical snag but a personal matter which had caused Louise to break into those laughs during the show.
When her colleague, newsreader Simon McCoy, handed it over to her, Louise Lear was in an uncontrollable state of laughter. She said in between the giggles:
“I’ll try and keep it together because it’s not a laughing matter with the weather in Scotland today”
Louise found it extremely difficult to maintain a straight face during the weather report bulletin. She struggled with some success but would again go into a fit of laughter.
Tears were rolling down her eyes as she tried to wipe her eyes dry. It was an ill-timed fit of laughter and Louise Lear tried to hide them by turning her face for long towards the behind screen as she explained the weather forecast.
She even apologized to the audience and started narrating well before another fit of giggling overtook her. She managed to stabilize herself for some time and somehow finished the report.
The social media speculations
No one for sure knows what the cause of Louise’s giggles was that had turned the weather forecast into a ‘laughter show’.
But the social media was abuzz about it and some people tweeted that the likely cause was some funny comment by Simon before the live broadcast started that might have pushed Louise Lear into a ‘giggling gear’.
Though the weather report was partially ruined, it was amusing to see Louise during the whole episode. But as human beings, we all do know that this could happen to anyone of us! There is no reason to feel angry or worried about it!
