Lucas Till and his roles before the fame
Lucas Till hails from Fort Hood, Texas. His mother, Dana Lyn was a chemist, while his father, John Mark Till, served as a colonel in the Army. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with his younger brother, Nick.
It was in his childhood days that he started doing print and TV ads. Lucas did light roles in several films when he was small. He was part of the 2003 short film, The Lovesong of Edwerd J. Robble, in which he played Michael. The same year, he portrayed Harry Vanderbilt in The Adventures of Ociee Nash. In 2004, he acted in Lightning Bug and Pee Shy.
Later, in 2004, he played Young Jack Cash in Walk the Line and young Samuel North in The Other Side (2006). He also acted in Dance of the Dead (2008) and Laid to rest (2009).
Hannah Montana: The Movie and the fame
The actor gained popularity with his portrayal of Travis Brody in the movie Hannah Montana: The Movie. The same year, he also appeared in You Belong with Me of singer Taylor Swift. In the former movie, he falls in mad love with the fictional character Miley Stewart (and Hannah Montana) after she returns to her home in Tennessee.
In 2017, in an interview given to Parade, the young actor said:
“They must be still running that on the Disney Channel because that movie came out seven years ago, and I still have little girls come up to me,”
“I say, ‘You were like 3 years old, how do you even know that?’ Hannah Montana gets no disrespect from me because it’s certainly done me a lot of favors.”
Lucas had admitted his crush on Taylor Swift since his age of 16. The movie success fetched him more roles such as in The Lost & Found Family as Justin, The Spy Next Door (2010), Battle: Los Angeles (2011), X-Men: First Class (2011) as Alex Summers, All Superheroes Must Die (2011), Dark Hearts, Stoker, Crush, Wrt and Reckless, Paranoia, Wolves, Kristy, Sins of our Youth, Brave town, Monster Trucks etc.
Simultaneously, he acted on television serials. He played the lead in MacGyver from 2016 to 2021 for five seasons.
CBS’ MacGyver
The role in MacGyver on CBS fetched more fame for this young star. Talking about it, he said:
“Some days it can be a little stressful because you have to problem solve, even though it’s all there and they’re telling you what to do. Sometimes they don’t even know what it should look like, and you’ve got to put your own style into the MacGyvering of it,”
“I learned how to make elephant toothpaste. Basically, it just expands really fast, and I use it to save the day in an episode. I learned how to make an endoscope using a Swiss Army Knife, a cell phone camera, cell phone and chewing gum. Some of the stuff is debatable as to whether or not it works; some of it actually does work.”
Lucas has no dearth of roles and is having a good share of characters to play on screen. Critics widely praised Lucas’ acting in The Wrong Side of Murder Creek.
He was a victim of verbal abuse and body shaming by Peter Lenkov, the show runner of MacGyver. He was suicidal at that time. CBS sacked Peter in 2020.
