Luke Coutinho’s Facebook video
Luke Coutinho stated in this video that there have been several fad diets that have made it to the internet in recent years and these include keto diets, vegan diets, carnivore diets, and others that have not proven to be beneficial.
These diets definitely play a role in leading to weight loss but they are in the long run not beneficial. But in the true sense of the word, these fad diets do not work and Luke feels that they never will.
Luke states that the only durable things that will assist in weight loss and healthy living are lifestyle modifications.
Other things look fancy and new and people begin adopting them in their lives only to realize later that they were not beneficial and in fact at times harmful.
He feels that lifestyle change changes one’s life and is here to stay. It also boosts overall health, immunity, and a person’s energy.
For this, an individual has to change his or her mindset and it will lead to overcoming small obstacles and hence a feeling of achievement and well-being.
This is a free way of changing one’s life towards goodness. It is also easy to incorporate into one’s life and has several health benefits.
Luke feels that people need to replace their dangerous quick-fix fad diets with a more sustained way of living and lifestyle.
Benefits of intermittent fasting
Luke feels that by doing intermittent fasting, one can get several benefits which he enumerates in the video.
- Prevents diabetes
By intermittent fasting, you lose weight and hence become insulin-sensitive. Blood sugar levels normalize and energy levels increase. It specifically could be of use to pre-diabetics or those with impaired blood glucose levels. It is good for people with a family history of diabetes and a propensity towards the disease.
- Having early light meals at night could aid in body repair and digestion. Hence avoid late-night dinners which could cause weight gain, sleep disturbances, and acid reflux.
- It aids weight management
- Those people who can fast for over 12 hours and gradually extend to around 16 hours of a food-free interval can achieve a lot of health benefits. Their weight comes under control, blood pressure is normalized, blood cholesterol and triglycerides normalize and heart diseases are prevented. Eating less also benefits. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Healthy nuts and seeds in the food also help.
