She was charged with murder, felonious assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, drug possession, and possession of criminal tools.

“She has a mission, and she executed it with precision. The mission was death.”

Mackenzie Shirilla tearfully read a statement in court after being found guilty and apologized to the victims’ families. She said,
“I’m so deeply sorry, I hope one day you can see I would never let this happen or do it on purpose, I wish I could remember what happened, We were all friends, and Dom was my soul mate, I wish I could take all your pain away. And to my family, thank you for the support and all the love you guys give. I love you all so much.”
What crimes did Mackenzie Shirilla commit?
According to horrific footage from July 2022 shown by the court, Mackenzie Shirilla, 17 at that time, collided into a corner of the Plisco Building in Strongsville, Ohio with accelerating at 100mph.
Her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, 20, and his friend Davion Flanagan, 19, were also in the passenger seats and died at the scene. The judge described the footage as a key piece of evidence.
According to reports, the three of them also smoked marijuana before the collision.
After Shirilla’s verdict, Dominic’s mom Christine Russo told her,
“Mackenzie, going to prison because you did this, be thankful you’re still alive and have a future, whatever that may be. Dom and Davion were robbed of their futures, their hoped and their dreams. Mackenzie showed no mercy no Dominic nor did she on Davion, only God at this time can have mercy on her soul.”
While Davion Flangan’s mother said her family still mourned the death of her son. Davion’s sister Davyne Flanagan added,
“I feel stuck, I feel like I can’t move forward. I feel lost. I would like you to give Mackenzie the longest possible sentence. I’ve known her for about three years and she’s always taking the easy way out.”
