Madeline Gaudreau is now a proud mom

Madeline Gaudreau has welcomed a baby boy named Tripp Matthew, four months after the tragic passing of her husband, Matthew Gaudreau.

She shared the joyful news on Instagram on December 29, 2024, posting an adorable picture of her newborn holding her finger while lying on a baby blanket.

Similarly, the picture captured a small round sign that read “He’s Here.” The widow of a late NHL player then captioned the post,

“Mommy & Daddy’s world,”

Furthermore, Madeline tagged her late husband in the photo.

As soon as she announced the birth of her child, many flooded the comment section of her post with supportive messages.

One user wrote,

How did Matthew Gaudreau die?

Madeline tragically lost her husband Matthew, aged 29, and his brother, NHL player Johnny Gaudreau, aged 31, on August 29, 2024.

The Gaudreau brothers were killed in a bike accident in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, after being struck by a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver Sean M. Higgins.

Higgins faces multiple charges, including second-degree reckless vehicular homicide and first-degree aggravated manslaughter, after a grand jury indicted him on December 11.

The family held a joint funeral for the brothers on September 9.

Just one day after the accident, the brothers were scheduled to be groomsmen at their sister Katie’s wedding, which was ultimately canceled due to this tragic loss.

Madeline Gaudreau Embracing Motherhood Amid Grief

In the aftermath of their deaths, Madeline’s sister revealed through a GoFundMe campaign that Madeline was pregnant with her first child with Matthew, whom she married in July 2021.

A few days later, Madeline expressed her grief on Instagram, stating that she had never felt “pain like this” and shared her love for Matthew, promising to continue for their unborn son.

She said,

“You are the best thing about me, I know you are watching down in just as much pain as I am looking up. I will keep going for you and our son. I love you so much Matthew.”

In October, Madeline celebrated a baby shower themed “A Little Piece of Heaven,” where she appreciated the efforts of friends and family in honoring Matthew’s memory.

She noted,

“The way you were able to tie in my husband brought instant tears when I walked in, All my friends and family, nothing will bring his dad back or uncle john, but I am glad he has so many amazing people around him to remind him how amazing they were.”

Before her bundle of joy arrived, Madeline posted an update on December 16, sharing that her baby’s due date was nearing.

She shared a wedding photo of her and her late husband Matthew, where they are smiling and looking into each other’s eyes. Similarly, she wrote next to the image,

“Our baby boy will be here any day,”

Eventually, she joyfully welcomed their healthy son into the world.
