Mamie Gummer files for divorce from her husband, Mehar Sethi!

American actress, Mamie Gummer, 41 had ended her marital relationship with her husband, Mehar Sethi, 42. She filed for divorce recently after more than a year of separation from him.

Mamie Gummer divorces Mehar Sethi

American actress, Mamie Gummer who is the daughter of actress, Meryl Streep has filed for divorce from her husband, Mehar Sethi. The reason put in the legal papers was irreconcilable differences, TMZ reported.

No one knew about their separation until now. The legal documents state that the two have already separated secretly less than two years back on 6th May 2023.

Mamie has requested the court to grant her physical and legal custody of their two children. She has added that she requires spousal monetary support from Mehar. She is not willing to give him any spousal support and has requested the court to terminate his demand for it, if any.

Mamie Gummer’s relationships

Mamie dated American actor, Benjamin Walker, 42 for one and half years before getting engaged to him in October 2009. The couple exchanged wedding vows in July 2011 at the Connecticut home of Mamie’s parents. However, this marriage was short-lived. And the couple separated in March 2013.

The actress started a relationship with American screenwriter and film producer, Mehar Sethi. Mehar whose full name is Meharban Singh Sethi proposed to Mamie in August 2018 and she said yes.

News about the first pregnancy of Mamie was reported in December 2018. The couple wed in February 2019. And soon after, in the same month, Mamie gave birth to her first child, son Peter. Their second baby was daughter Mary in 2021.

And after the separation in 2023, they are going for legal divorce now. Divorce is sad and upsetting but Mamie has projects at hand to keep her busy and distracted. She is working in the Netflix series, Blood of Zeus. And her next venture is in the psychological thriller, We were Liars. It is an adaptation of a book that carried the same name and was written by E.Lockhart. The series will be on Prime Video but the exact date of launch is not available.

Mamie’s birthplace is New York City. Her parents are actress Meryl Streep, 75 and sculptor, Don Gummer, 78. She has an elder brother, musician Henry Gummer and two younger sisters, actresses Grace Gummer and Louisa Jacobson. Her upbringing was mainly in Salisbury in Connecticut.

As regards her education, Mamie studied at Miss Porter’s School. Later, she completed her graduation from Kent School, Kent, Connecticut. Subsequently, Mamie took up further studies in theater and communications from Northwestern University. She finished it in 2005.

Mamie’s parents separated in 2017. Meryl is now romancing her fellow actor, Martin Short, 74. Martin is a Canadian-American comedian and actor who portrays the character of Oliver Putnam, one of the three strangers in the drama series on Hulu, Only Murders in the Building.

Actress Amy Schumer, 43 who was seated next to Martin Short and Meryl at the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert held on 14th February 2025 in New York City said:

“There’s really no one funnier to sit next to than Marty Short, who I got to sit next to at the homecoming concert the other night,”

She continued:

“I think that the tea is, I think Marty might be off the market. That’s what I’m seeing. I don’t know,”
“Maybe by just like the greatest actor of our time, I don’t know.”
