Marcel Somerville proposes to his girlfriend Rebecca Vieira

During the gender reveal party, Love Island star Marcel Somerville decided to double the joy. He shocked Rebecca by going down on one knee.

And a delighted and overjoyed Rebecca said Yes. The couple announced this news to OK magazine. Additionally, they revealed that the unborn baby is a boy.

Later, Rebecca uploaded a photo of her dazzling sparkler which Marcel, 34 gifted her.

She captioned this post:

‘Issa boy and issa wife,’

And followed it with a heart emoji. In the video which is on OK’s social media, after they pulled the poppers to release blue confetti, Marcel immediately went proposed to her.

A source told the publication:

‘Marcel didn’t tell anyone that he was going to propose, even his best friends, he did not tell anyone that he was planning it so it was a whole surprise for everyone.

‘Rebecca cried and every one at the party was crying, it was really emotional and every one was super happy.’

Prior to the gender reveal party, both Marcel and Rebecca have been updating their fans about the party. But the proposal bit was a surprise.

The celebration was great with a statement balloon arch, decadent cake, personalized custom-made cupcakes, a doughnut wall, and also a gift table with bespoke treats for the guests. The whole setup was gorgeous.

It was in July that Marcel had announced that his girlfriend Rebecca is pregnant with their first child. He also revealed that one year back, she had suffered a miscarriage.

Marcel earlier spoke to OK and revealed that he came to learn about Rebecca’s pregnancy when he was recording in the studio.

He said:

‘I was in the studio with my headphones on and she tapped me on the shoulder. 

‘She had loads of pregnancy tests in her hand, just to make doubly sure. It was crazy! It’s my first baby and I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so it’s just mad.’

The couple has been dating for the past 14 months. In May 2020, they celebrated their first year anniversary. The couple’s first meeting was in London in a nightclub in 2018.

They were trying to have a baby and then the miscarriage came last year. This happened very early in their relationship but it only helped them draw closer to each other, they said.

He said:

‘We both took it really badly. It took a little while for us to get over it, but it did make us stronger because when you go through something like that, it makes you be there for the other person.’
