Mark Estes and his dark past
American TikToker, Mark Estes, 24 is in news again for his supposedly relationship with American reality TV star of Love Island USA fame, Olivia Walker, 22. Earlier, he had grabbed headlines when he was dating American fashion designer and TV personality, Kristin Cavallari, 37 who was 13 years elder to him. She also has three children with her ex-husband, Jay Cutler.
Page Six reports that Mark has a dark past during his college days. He was accused, in February 2021, of felony assault outside the campus of his college, Montana State University.
He and his friends had beaten up a group of students and one of them was injured seriously to need hospitalization. A spokesperson of the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office in Montana has confirmed this incident. He also revealed that ultimately Mark was not charged. No case was made against him.
Details of the whole ‘mutual combat’ incident
The said spokesperson from the Sheriff’s office of Gallatin County narrated the whole incident to the reporter from Page Six. He revealed that Mark was a student of Montana State University at that time and he and his friends had a fight with another group of students. The fight was not in the campus but outside.
When the police arrived, all the fighting students had disappeared from the scene of the crime. Therefore, no arrests were made. But one of the student from the opposite gang was in hospital while his other friends were there to help and support him. The officer explained the reason why they did not charge Mark:
“If we’re coming to those kinds of things after the fact, we might not arrest the person even if there’s probable cause for them to be charged,”
“We’ll put in what’s called a request for prosecution at the County Attorney’s Office, and they will either issue a warrant or a summons if they feel that probable cause exists to continue on with the case.”
What happened about the felony case of Mark?
The narrating police officer felt that Mark was one of the aggressors and he wanted to charge him. He said:
“I put in the request that Mark Estes be charged with aggravated assault and misdemeanor assault because there were two victims,”
And he added:
“I felt that there was probable cause [because] one person’s injuries sustained rose to the level of aggravated assault. The other person who was involved, his injuries were significantly less, just minor scrapes and bruises, which is more of a misdemeanor charge.”
However, the Gallatin County Attorney’s Office made the decision to close the case since it was a case of mutual combat. But Mark’s University did impose some penalties on Mark and his friends who were involved in the brawl. The online records show that Mark had soon after sought a transfer to Montana Tech. But whether the reason for this migration to another college was the fight incident or something else is not clear.
