Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, was born on February 15, 1995 in San Antonio, Texas. Pete’s family relocated to Houston shortly after her birth, where she was raised in the South Park neighborhood by her rapper mother Holly. She and her mother moved to Pearland when she was 14 years old. Pete began writing her own raps while attending Pearland High School. She subsequently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University.
Pete began posting videos of her freestyle raps on social media, particularly Instagram, while in college. She gained a significant following after one of her videos went viral.
