The former Spice Girl Mel B had planned a vacation abroad this Christmas. She was to go to the UK with her daughter, Madison, and spend her Christmas holidays there. But her dreams have been shattered.

Her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte had filed court documents stating that their daughter Madison should be in Los Angeles for Christmas. And the court agreed. The presiding Judge stated that Mel B cannot take her daughter out of the country for a vacation.

Stephen Belafonte has filed court papers recently regarding his daughter Madison with singer Mel B whose full name is Melanie Brown. He stated in the documents that Madison is frightened of Mel B.

Mel B might hurt their daughter like the last time when they had met across the pond. This mother-daughter meet traumatized Madison, according to Stephen.

It is not clear what exactly took place in the Los Angeles Superior Court. But the outcome was that Mel cannot take her daughter out of the USA. The Judge has ruled in Stephen’s favor.

Mel B started dating Stephen Belafonte in February 2007. The couple wed secretly in June 2007 in Las Vegas in Nevada. They re-wed in front of their family and friends in November 2008 in Hurghada in Egypt. On 1 September 2011, Madison was born. But in less than 10 years they had called it quits.

In December 2016, they separated. Mel filed her divorce papers in March 2017 and in December 2017, it got completed. It was a bitter divorce battle and Mel accused Stephen of physical and emotional abuse. She had PTSD and had to seek medical attention.

“In the process of my marriage I lost my family, my friends, my self-respect and I almost lost my life and for so long I felt ashamed.”

She continued:

“I thought I was stupid, that everything that happened was my fault. I had never heard of a coercive relationship. Even after I left him I never realized so many other women have almost exactly the same story to tell. It was only after my book [‘Brutally Honest’] came out that I realized emotional abuse is an epidemic that affects millions. It’s the shame that makes you suffer in silence. But I am no longer ashamed.”
