More to Know About National Siblings Day, It’s History and Importance!
- National Siblings Day is the day to celebrate the relationship of brothers and sisters.
- It is celebrated on April 10 every year.
What is National Siblings Day?
National Siblings Day is the unofficial holiday that is celebrated each year on the 10th of April to honor the bond between brothers and sisters.
Siblings are our first real friends and we share the unconditional love and promises with them.
If you’re wondering how or when this holiday started, it was a New Yorker paralegal named Claudia Evart in 1995, who founded the day in honor of her two siblings Alan and Lisette whom she lost early in life.
Also, she chose April 10 as the day since it was her late sister, Lisette’s birthday.
Siblings Day Foundation says on its website,
“Siblings Day follows the spirit of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day – a great American tradition and celebration of family-unit values,”
“It is an uplifting celebration honoring people who have shaped our values, beliefs and ideals.”
The foundation also filed a petition to the White House to issue a proclamation to give it the title of a national holiday.
This day is a special day to let our siblings know how special they are to us. People celebrate this day by showering their brothers or sisters with affection and gifts.
