New York’s John Nicotera proposed to his girlfriend Erica Pendrak under Neowise comet which is viewable once in 6800 years!

- And New York’s John Nicotera made it a once-in-90-lifetimes occasion for himself and his girlfriend, Erica Pendrak.
He proposed to her under the Neowise comet which was viewable to the naked eye in the Northern Hemisphere from 13-22 July 2020.
And what is more, John also managed to capture both the comet and the proposal on his camera. The comet is a long-period comet and will not be visible for the next 6766 years.
About the special proposal under Neowise comet
Proposing to one’s girlfriend is usually a once-in-a-lifetime event for many. But for John Nicotera, 33 it became a once-in-90-lifetimes event.
He proposed to his girlfriend, Erica Pendrak, 26 under the Neowise comet which was viewable to the naked eye in July 2020 in the Northern Hemisphere.
Citizens of New York City were able to get a glimpse of this rare phenomenon. It appears only once in 6766 years, which means we will never be able to again see it in this lifetime.
And what is more, John was able to even capture this special moment of his life on his camera with the comet in the background. It is indeed an amazing picture!
John and Erica-the relationship and proposal
The couple, John and Erica have been dating now for the past two years. Both like reading about historical events and space happenings.
Initially, John told and described to Erica about the Neowise comet which was to happen in their part of the world in July 2020.
Both were extremely thrilled to learn about it. The comet would be visible to the naked eye without the need for a telescope in the Northern Hemisphere.
Therefore, the pair decided to go to John’s family’s camp in Old Forge, New York state to watch it. One night, they saw the wonder of astronomy and were surprised.
But Erica was more surprised. Because she saw John get down on one knee and propose to her. She was excited and all this was caught on camera by John’s friend.
The couple had initially wanted to have the proposal in Oregon but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were changes in plans.
John and his CNN interview
John told CNN:
‘I’ve been very bummed because I was going to do it a Crater Lake and it was going to awesome,’
And then he realized that under the Neowise would be a better option. He revealed:
‘This could be our engagement,’
‘This is not going to happen in our lifetime or five generations’ lifetimes.’

Therefore, he took his friend Tim Leach and his girlfriend into confidence. They trailed along and when he was about to propose, John gave the green signal to Tim so that he could take the perfect shot. John said:
‘Every single star was out … it was too special to let it go,’
John is grateful to Tim:
‘Tim froze time for us so we could live this moment forever. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.’
