Foster girlfriend or boyfriend-What it implies?
Foster girlfriend or boyfriend is a recent addition in the slang terms in the dating field. It is also defined in Urban Dictionary.
The Dictionary states that the term is used for a girlfriend or a boyfriend whom another person of the same or different gender dates before finding his ‘forever home’.
So for the person who leaves the foster girlfriend or boyfriend, she or he is like a romantic fling before he or she finds his or her soulmate.
The foster friend is like the last pitstop before they vanish into the sunset with a new friend for good. Many people are realizing that they had been foster girlfriends or boyfriends in their past.
Celebrities who identified themselves as one of these foster friends
Many celebrities also have realized and expressed that they were some sort of a stepping stone or finishing schools for the guys to use and then go away with their true and serious soulmate.
Australian radio producer Jane Hocking also recently admitted that she has been one of the foster girlfriends in her relationship.
In a recent article, she wrote:
“I had filled in time for these blokes, listened to many of their, ‘I’m just not quite ready for a girlfriend’ speeches (and said a fair few of those speeches myself) and to be fair, had a marvellous time with them before they turned on their vacant taxi light and picked up the next traveler for a life of commitment and dirty nappies,”
I’m like King Midas but for relationships; every person i cum on ends up in a long term relationship with someone else three weeks later.

Just saw a girl on tik tok say that she’s a “foster girlfriend” because she dates men until they find their forever homes and I’ve been dying laughing for the last half hour because I’ve never felt so called out in my life

Brooke Meyers also felt similarly about her past relationships. She felt used and her emotional investment in the person seemed wasted.
More about this weird relationship
The term is new but the phenomenon is an old one. Good Luck Chuck was a romantic comedy of 2007 which displayed a similar happening.
The person who leaves the foster girlfriend or boyfriend might break the first relationship by saying that he or she is not ready or that it was just a casual relationship.
There are multiple reasons for a person to become one of such foster friends. Firstly, there might be some incompatibility between the two and hence the relationship did not click.
The second reason could be that the person really did not intend to start the relationship but it just happened by mutual attractiveness.
The third reason might be that the foster friend too did not mind getting into the relationship just for fun. He or she too might not have been wanting to commit anything at that time. This also might have led to the falling apart of the two.
