The son of Borislav and Ljiljana Nikola Vucevic was born in Morges, Switzerland on 24 October 1990. He was born in an athletic family and he has also developed a huge interest in sports. He has a Montenegrin nationality and Swiss ethnicity. While he was a teenager his family moved to Montenegro.

Nikola Vucevic studied at Stoneridge Preparatory High School in Simi Valley, California, and played basketball under the coach BabacarSy, who was a friend of his father.  Later he attended the University of Southern California where he averaged the record of 11.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per basketball game.

He was also selected to play on Montenegro national basketball team at FIBA EuroBasket 2011 and FIBA EuroBasket 2013. After returning to the United States on 9 December 2011, he signed with the 76ers but was soon traded to Orlando Magic on 10 August 2012.

He set a franchise record with 29 rebounds against a match with Miami Heat on 31 December 2012. On 23 October 2014, he signed a four-year contract extension worth $53 million with Magic. On 3 April 2015, he recorded his career-high with 37 points. Due to his injuries to his right knee, he missed several matches.

Since August 2012, Nikola Vucevic has been playing with the team Magic and he is still playing from the same team. His success in his career path has paid him well financially. As of 2022, he has an estimated net worth of $30 million.
