An Off-Duty Tennessee Officer, Tanner Holt, Knocked Out After Alleged Racist Remark!

Tanner Holt was attending a wedding reception while one of the fellow guests knocked him unconscious after his alleged racist remark. As per the recent report, WATE-TV mentioned there is an internal investigation going on at the Knoxville Police Department.
Fellow wedding guest knocked down Tanner Holt
22-year-old Knoxville Officer, Holt was attending wedding reception during his off-duty hours. At the even one of the fellow guests knocked him unconscious after his alleged racist remark. As per the reports, Holt told the Black man that he, “didn’t know they let Black people in the reception hall.” This incident took place on June 26th on West Jackson Avenue where both Holt and the black man whose name is Jonathan Toney attended the reception.
As per the WATE reports, Holt who is a white man allegedly told Toney that he (Holt) was part of the Black community. He also allegedly continued to make racial remarks despite Toney was continuously saying him to stop talking about the race. Four witnesses came forward to talk about the incident but they mentioned they did not hear the conversation.
Further investigation and reports
His colleague found the officer found him unconscious just after 9 p.m. on June 26. As per the local report, Toney came forward mentioning he punched the officer on the face a single time after his alleged racist remarks. While the investigation is going on but the authorities have not made any arrests and charges. A spokesperson for the Knoxville Police Department has confirmed the internal investigation. Meanwhile, the Knoxville officer, Holt, will be staying off duty until he recovers.
However, they have not revealed when/if he will return to work as the investigation is going on. Scott Erland who is a spokesperson for the KPD stated:
“Officer Holt suffered serious injuries during the incident and has been out while he recovers from those injuries,”
The KPD officials mentioned they will make the decision of his return regarding his assignment/status after he clears the IAU investigation. In April, this year, a Knoxville police officer shot and killed 17-year-old Black student Anthony J. Thompson, Jr. At the time, the initial reports stated the teenager fired at the officer. However, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a statement nearly 48 hours about the fatal shooting saying:
“Preliminary examinations indicate the bullet that struck the KPD officer was not fired from the student’s handgun,”
