Origin of coronavirus! Did it originate in the Wuhan lab?
  • The coronavirus has caused worldwide devastations and the USA is still reeling under its severe onslaught.
  • It has more than 678k cases and nearly 34,641 deaths.
  • But it is also working on finding out the true origin of the virus.

Everyone is aware that the first infections came from Wuhan in China before spreading rapidly to the world. But what the US investigators are trying to find out is whether the coronavirus started from a lab-grown accident or due to poor handling.

Facts about the coronavirus

There are certain things that are pretty sure about the deadly coronavirus which continues to create havoc in the world even now.

It started from the Wuhan region of China and killed nearly 3342 people there to date after infecting over 82.3k people in China.

Many experts state that the virus came probably from the wet (fresh food) wildlife markets in Wuhan. Secretary of US State Mike Pompeo states:

“Then we know they have this lab. We know about the wet (fresh food) markets. We know that the virus itself did originate in Wuhan. So all those things come together.”

The virus is highly virulent and fast mutating.

The USA theories on the origin of coronavirus

But the USA is not totally happy with this theory that the virus cropped up naturally in the wet markets of Wuhan. It feels that the virus might probably have originated in the Wuhan lab rather than anywhere else.

The USA does not believe that the virus was any bioweapon or any such research is going on in China. But it strongly feels that the virus started from a lab in Wuhan in China. It has come into the public domain by accident or maybe due to poor handling of the virus.

This is the possibility that the USA is looking into but experts that it is yet too early to make any conclusions. There are a number of theories afloat on the viral origin and just like any high-profile incident, the USA is using all intelligence inputs to reach a conclusion about the origin of the virus.

Joint Chief of Staff Chairman Mark Milley said:

“I would just say, at this point, it’s inconclusive although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural (origin). But we don’t know for certain,”

Fox News, Yahoo, and Donald Trump are all doing their part in this investigation but the President did not want to divulge the findings.

Additionally, State Department cables from 2018 reveal that the USA was always concerned about the safety and the management of the Wuhan Institute of Virology biolab.

Besides, Mike Pompeo stated:

The Chinese Communist Party didn’t give Americans access when we needed it in that most timely point at the very beginning,”

“There’s still a lot we don’t know, and this is what the President was talking about today. We need to know answers to these things.”

What does the intelligence data say until now?

Though the USA government is reviewing this angle of the origin of coronavirus, it does not yet have any evidence to confirm it.

The investigations are still on. Many feel that the government and Republicans are pushing this theory to deflect people’s attention from criticisms of Donald’s poor handling of this crisis.

But many intelligence officials state that the exact cause may never be known. Besides, China has repeatedly denied the lab theory.

A source from the White House admitted:

every time there is an outbreak someone proposes that the virus or other pathogen came out of a lab.”

But the USA wants China to pay a price for releasing this deadly virus on the world, but experts feel that they should get hold of strong evidence on it. Besides, they should wait until the pandemic is over.
