Paul Bissonnette hospitalized after assault by six men at Scottsdale Restaurant
Paul Bissonnette, a former NHL player and current broadcaster, was hospitalized after being attacked by a group of six men at Houston’s restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona, on November 24, 2024.
The assault took place around 7:30 PM when Bissonnette tried to assist the restaurant staff in handling disruptive patrons.
As he approached the group, who were harassing the employees, they began to physically assault him both inside the restaurant and in the parking lot.
Bissonnette suffered injuries from the assault and was taken to the hospital for treatment, although they were not life-threatening.
Following the altercation, police arrested six individuals involved in the attack. One of them, Sean Michael Daley, was indicted for violent behavior related to the incident.
Bissonnette described the attackers as “bad dudes” who were “way too drunk,” expressing his frustration with their unacceptable behavior in a family-friendly environment.
The 34-year-old former NHL player and analyst stated,
“I’m very, very angry about these guys… just unacceptable behavior at a family restaurant, just because they couldn’t grab another cocktail and didn’t want to hear no for an answer.”
After the incident, he resumed his broadcasting duties and has been vocal about his experience.
Paul Bissonnette shares his experience of confrontation
Paul shared a video on X detailing an incident he witnessed at Houston’s restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
He described a group of intoxicated golfers causing disturbances, which escalated when one man became aggressive toward the restaurant manager.
Bissonnette felt it necessary to intervene, stating that the manager appeared shocked and overwhelmed, and the confrontation lasted for about 30 to 45 seconds.
He recounted how he approached the aggressive individual and warned him,
“Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff, we’re gonna have problems.”
Following this warning, the situation quickly turned violent as multiple individuals began throwing punches. Similarly, the altercation moved from the restaurant to the parking lot to a nearby CVS store.
He mentioned that he was hit in the face a few times, but he believed it “could have been a lot worse.” The former NHL star added that he received some blows but gave some back.
He explained,
“Got taken down a couple times. I got boot f—ed in the head three times by the CVS, luckily didn’t get knocked out. Did go to the hospital,”
At last, he expressed his gratitude to the staff for dealing with the situation and thanked the police for their quick response, noting that they arrested six out of the seven men involved.
