Did the U.K. press end Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy’s relationship?
Prince Harry blames the U.K. tabloid for playing the main factor in his split from his longtime love Chelsy Davy.
The New York Times received a written statement on Tuesday where Harry said he always felt their relationship “was always set to be doomed” due to “the prying eyes of the tabloids.”
The Duke of Sussex wrote,
”It was just that feeling of being under surveillance all the time,”
“I believe Chelsy found this even more difficult to deal with when she lived in England … everyone has a limit as to what they can endure.”
The declaration was an extract from Harry’s ongoing lawsuit against British paper, Mirror Group Newspaper Limited.
King Charles III’s son claims that the company tapped into his cell phone. They did so to find out what was going on in his personal life.
Harry claimed that he “tried to be the best partner.’‘ However, their relationship always suffered because there were always three people in their relationship: him, Chelsy, and the press.
The royal met Chelsy, now 37, in early 2004. The two were in an on-off relationship until mid-2010. Chelsy had enough of the media scrutiny and decided that “a royal life was not for her.”
The prince who is now married to Meghan Markle said that he was incredibly hurt by their split. However, he understood why she ended it.
The 5th in line to the throne added that he and Davy constantly feared for their safety which led to “a huge amount of unnecessary stress and strain on our relationship.”
He added,
“We could also never understand how private elements of our life together were finding their way into the tabloids, and so our circle of friends became smaller and smaller,”
“I remember finding it very hard to trust anyone, which led to bouts of depression and paranoia.”

Harry claimed the late Queen was not a fan of Chelsy
A controversial moment happened in 2005 when the then-young royal was apparently caught flirting with a brunette at a party while Chelsy was away.
Responding to two articles published by the Daily Mirror at the time, Harry said,
“I had been immature, I hadn’t really thought about my actions and I had made a stupid decision — and my mistakes were being played out publicly,”
The articles claimed that Davy was angry at him and bashed him on the phone. But the Duke questioned where they got the information from.
The father of two pointed out,
“The article contains several quotes from ‘friends’ or other ‘partygoers’, but the details about our telephone communications are not attributed to anyone,”
“So how could the Defendant’s journalists know about this?”
While the couple’s split had a lot to do with the press’s interference, Harry also revealed that they ended their romance because of his late grandmother’s unfavorable opinion of the Zimbabwean beauty.
In his bombshell memoir, Spare, Harry claimed that the late Queen didn’t like Davy’s free-spirited lifestyle which he really adored about her.
He said,
“She didn’t care what anyone thought,”
“She wore miniskirts and high-heeled boots, danced however she wanted, drank tequila like me, and all of this made me really happy.”
“I couldn’t help what my grandmother thought about it. Or the people. And the last thing I wanted was for Chelsy to change to please them.”
