Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s outing for a special cause
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are doing their best to mark Mental Health Awareness Month.
The prince and the former Suits actress visited a youth group near their Montecito home to learn about the pressures youngsters face in the social media era.
Markle, 41, and Harry, 38, spent an hour having a heart-to-heart chat with teenagers from the ages of 14 to 18 from AHA! Santa Barbara. They discussed how societal pressure and social media affect the mental well-being of such people.
The couple’s Archewell Foundation revealed that the couple who left the monarchy in 2020 learned “firsthand about this generation’s experiences with social media and societal pressures, and how it affects their mental well-being. The couple engaged with these amazing youth in candid conversation, working to find solutions together.”
Harry and Meghan have a long history of fighting for mental health and wellbeing. They are also not afraid to address the challenges that they have faced.
The duo said that social media can do good and create positivity in connecting lives but it also “raises issues of insecurity, peer-pressure, and potential for self-harm, among other risks,”
The foundation further said that the engagement was a part of regular meetings with young people, parents, and professionals as they work to “understand the challenges they may be facing while working together to drive towards long-term solutions on- and offline,”

Harry revealed how he protects his mental health
Last year, Harry noted during his Invictus Games that he is very careful of what information he consumes.
The father of two said at the time,
“For much of my life, I have been in the fortunate position of being able to help others,”
“As a veteran of conflict, but also simply as a human, I take care of what my mind ingests. Like a digital diet. Cutting out the toxic parts of the online world and the way stories are put in front of us, baiting us, is one way I prioritize my well-being.”
King Charles and Princess Diana’s youngest son added,
“I also make sure to talk to people, directly, one to one, about what they’re going through, and try to learn from their experiences and understanding of the world.”
This is the couple’s first-ever public work outing since Harry attended his father’s coronation on May 6 which also happened to be his son Archie’s 4th birthday.
The prince rushed to California to attend his son’s birthday after the coronation ended.
The 5th-in-line to the throne also paid his respects to his father with a bow as the newly crowned monarch processed out of Westminster Abbey.
Though Meghan was not present at the ceremony, Harry was accompanied by his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
