William and Catherine’s relationship timeline
William and Catherine tied the knot on April 29, 2011, after nearly eight years of dating.
The couple met while both were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Rumors of their romance started making global headlines when the two were pictured together for the first time during a ski trip at a Swiss resort in Klosters.
Their relationship went through a rough patch in 2007. But William and Kate three years later, the duo reunited and announced their royal engagement to the world.
William proposed to his fiancee with his late mother Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring. It was given to her by her then-fiance Prince Charles once.
For their nuptials which took place at Westminster Abbey, the bride wore a stunning long-sleeved gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Fans loved her wedding dress with one saying,
”Simple but very elegant and beautiful. I just love her.”
Another fan wrote,
”love the dress and she carried it so well. The simplicity of the dress makes it elegant. Too many wedding gowns are way too gaudy these days or brides try to be sexy. This is what you call a classy dress worn by a classy lady. ”
Middleton wore a Cartier Halo tiara which she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II. The bride reportedly did her makeup for the big, historic event which was watched by more than 162 million people worldwide.
Since their wedding, the couple has welcomed three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 5.
