Will Princess Catherine wear a tiara at the King’s coronation?
Princess Catherine of Wales might possibly not wear a tiara at her father-in-law King Charles III‘s coronation on May 6.
People claimed that Buckingham Palace shared that while the conversation was going on, the princess, 41, could break the historic royal tradition and attend the ceremony without a tiara at Westminster Abbey.
Tiaras have been historically worn by female royal members and aristocratic women at coronations.
Young Princess Elizabeth who later became Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret also wore tiny gold crowns which are called coronets to their father’s coronation in 1937.
But some royal experts are not surprised by the princess’s possible break from tradition.
Royal historian Jessica Storoschuk said,
“Given that Charles is aiming for a modern coronation, it would make sense that he would choose for a formal day dress code which does not include tiaras,”
She also added that it is very possible that the future queen and other senior women in the family will go without the headpieces.

We could see outfits more like coat dresses and fascinators instead of gowns and diamonds at the ceremony.
However, Jessica added that she “could see Kate wearing a coronet, simply as a future queen.”

Royal fans want Catherine to wear a tiara
Twitter users think they could not see Catherine tiara-less for the important event on May 6.
One fan commented on The Court Jeweller’s post discussing the tiara debate,
“The people pay for this. Do your part and give us a show!”
Another user added,
“Maybe the coronation will be business casual – just no denim please,”
“Having a hard time with Charles vision here….”
A third royal fan tagged the royal family and wrote,
“Royalty, especially in this circumstance, isn’t supposed to be relatable. The world needs an escape from reality and you can offer it,”
Lauren Kiehna, founder of the Court Jeweller also addressed the disappointment of royal fans saying,
“Many royal fans are clearly hoping for major glamour from this coronation, a return to the old tiaras, coronets, and robes of the last ceremony 70 years ago.”
As for the king, he will follow centuries of royal tradition with St.Edward’s Crown, an eye-catching piece that features precious gems.
The crown was created for King Charles II’s coronation in 1661.
Apart from the dazzling piece, Charles will also wear the equally impressive Imperial State Crown during the historic ceremony.
