Rachel Lindsay will be the season 13 Bachelorette according to the sources. ABC confirms that the next Bachelorette will be announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Monday, February 13, 2017’s episode.

Rachel Lindsay started filming her season of The Bachelorette on Thursday, March 16, and executive producer Mike Fleiss shared a series of behind-the-scenes pics on Twitter as Nick Viall’s castoff met her new cast of Bachelors.

Lindsay, who landed a one-on-one date with Viall in New Orleans, is one of his six remaining ladies heading into The Bachelor’s February 13 episode. This is the first time that The Bachelorette has announced a series lead before the person’s elimination episode of The Bachelor has aired.

The Bachelorette franchise has chosen the first black lead, Rachel for their next season. Rachel is a Dallas-based attorney professional wise and expressed happiness via her social media handle Twitter,

“Very happy about the overwhelming support for our new #TheBachelorette!!!”

Mike Fleiss who is a series creator has recently been tweeting about a “history-making announcement” that will happen on Kimmel.

About the Bachelorette

The Bachelorette season 12 contestant Wells Adams was a guest on a podcast earlier this month and he was not so happy about the announcement.

“I think the franchise wants to so badly break out of its cookie-cutter, white-person shell, but I don’t think that America will embrace it, sadly enough,”

he said.

One of the photos showed Lindsay, standing opposite the show’s host, Chris Harrison. She was wearing a sleeveless, white, patterned floor-length gown. Chris said,

“I think @TheRachLindsay will be one of the Top 3 Bachelorettes of all time, She’s incredibly smart, she’s sweet and caring yet strong and independent, obviously wicked smart and a lawyer and very accomplished has a lot of attributes. That’s massively attractive to Nick, and it would be to any guy!”

Host Chris Harrison also said that the show would be “lucky” to have Lindsay.

Mike Fleiss, who is also one of the producers tweeted before filming began.

“She is wonderful!!!!”

ABC president Channing Dungey clarified to the reporters at a press event that she would like the Bachelor franchise to be more diverse. She said,

“I would very much like to see some changes there, She would be incredible,”

Lindsay is already one of the most popular Bachelorette picks ever – and she has members of the franchise already enthusiastically supporting her, including her ex Nick.

The Final Four of the Bachelors were revealed in a surprise twist earlier this week on The Bachelor’s episode. After hearing this news Lindsay was so anxious and said to the host Chris,

“I’m excited to meet the guys — and nervous!”

Her biggest fear was that before meeting those finalists Lindsay was scared that her process won’t work. The franchise’s first African-American Bachelorette intended to take a leaf out of his book and she was direct as she began her dating adventure:

“He just went with his gut, and I plan to do that exact same thing in my season.”

She says that her job is also the reason that she can prepare herself for any struggle.

“My job is a pressure-filled job so I’m used to dealing with intense situations that have a lot of pressure,”

Lindsay tells PEOPLE.

“That’s all of the trial whenever I’m dealing with a case. But I don’t necessarily feel the added pressure,”

she says.

“Work is like a gift and a curse – it’s so demanding and it’s easy for me to just drown myself in my work and not deal with my emotions. But one thing that I learned from going through this whole process is – it’s okay to be vulnerable and open.”
