Rapper Coolio was found dead at his friend’s home in Los Angeles 

On September 28, 2022, Coolio was pronounced dead in the bathroom of his friend’s house in Los Angeles. He was 59.

Well, the cause of his death has now been revealed more than six months after his demise.

The rapper, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr. died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, according to the Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Similarly, his manager, Jarez Posey, also confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday, April 6, that the hip-hop star’s cause of death was fentanyl and that he also had traces of heroin methamphetamine in his system.

The authorities also listed cardiomyopathy unspecified, asthma, and recent phencyclidine use as other significant conditions that contributed to his death.

The day when the tragic incident happened, Coolio went to the bathroom at a friend’s house and when he didn’t come out, the friend called his name but he didn’t answer.

After that, the friend called for help, and once the responders arrived, the Grammy Award winner was pronounced dead.

Coolio is survived by his ten children.

Dangerous Minds star Michelle Pfeiffer shared a clip of the “Gangsta’s Paradise” video and mourned the artist’s loss.

“Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the gifted artist @coolio, A life cut entirely too short.”

“As some of you may know I was lucky enough to work with him on Dangerous Minds in 1995. He won a Grammy for his brilliant song on the soundtrack – which I think was the reason our film saw so much success.”

She concluded the statement by stating,

“I remember him being nothing but gracious. 30 years later I still get chills when I hear the song. Sending love and light to his family. Rest in Power, Artis Leon Ivey Jr.”

Further, Weird Al Yankovic, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Jenan Thompson are among them who paid tribute to him on social media.

Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was an American rapper, Record producer, actor, and chef. He was best known as a member of the gangsta rap group WC and the Maad Circle.

He got his career breakthrough as a solo artist in the mid-to-late 1990s with his albums It Takes a Thief (1994), Gangsta’s Paradise (1995), My Soul  (1997), and more.
