Gladiator of 1992 TV series Gladiators, Diane Youdale, 54 was married to her lesbian partner, author Zoe Gilbert in 2023. However, they split within two months of the intimate wedding.

The athlete now opened up about the reason behind the split.

Diane Youdale, 54 was dating her co-star, James Hunter Crossley for two years. After her split from him, she dated and wed TV executive, George Mayhew. The marriage lasted seven years before they called it quits.

Diane who is also a psychotherapist had also dated English personal trainer and coach, Andy Mcglynn. Once, she had also revealed that she had a relationship with a man who had subjected her to domestic violence and abuse. Following this, she decided to not have any relationships. However, it changed when she met English author Zoe Gilbert.

Diane has a child, a son named Jonny. It is not known who is the father of this child. Jonny serves as a technician at The Northern School of Art, Middlesbrough, England, the UK.

Zoe Gilbert and Diane met in a Tesco supermarket. Zoe had remarked that Diane was beautiful. And the two struck a friendship followed by a romance for four months.

In 2023, Diane came out and said that Zoe was her first same-sex relationship. Later, the two exchanged wedding vows in an intimate wedding function that was attended by only six people (family and close friends). The two had engaged just before the wedding ceremony.

And in August 2023, a report was published in which a woman named Lisa (age 55) had stated that she had romanced Diane for 18 months. Lisa who is a dog-walking company head gave proof of a photo in which she was kissing Diane on the cheek. And the latter was sticking her tongue out in fun.

Soon, a rift developed between Zoe and Diane and they split in September 2023.

The reason for the divorce from Zoe Gilbert

Diane addressed the reason for the divorce from Zoe recently to The Sun UK. She said that Zoe was jealous of her past relationships. According to Diane:

“She would say ‘what about Sonia? What about Lisa?’ These are exes, professionally and personally. I was like: ‘I don’t go on at you about your past I’m not insecure about that.’ But it was endless.”

She continued:

“I lost ‘me’ really quickly. And that is possibly that something I’ve done in relationships in the past as well. What is the point in being with somebody in the now and having a future ahead of you if all you want to do is talk about that person’s past?”

Diane added that she liked Zoe’s humor and intelligence and wanted the relationship to last. But the relationship got boring and made her passive. She stopped going for her walks. She lost herself and did not feel like continuing with the relationship.

However, Zoe denies that she was jealous. She revealed that she was frustrated on learning that the Gladiator star had lied to her about her past relationships. She said:

“I was continually lied to about these exes. I only found out about them when it came out in the press.”

An insider told Daily Mail UK:

“Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn’t to be. They didn’t see any point carrying on so decided to end their marriage. It’s sad, especially as they were only married for nearly 18 months, but they just weren’t getting on. On reflection, they may have rushed into making their relationship official but there’s no regrets or hard feelings between them.”
