Robert Irwin, the younger brother of Bindi Irwin is nervous to walk his sister down the aisle!
Bindi Irwin, the daughter of late Steve Irwin is going to wed soon. And Robert Irwin, the younger brother of Bindi, would walk his sister down the aisle in place of their father Steve who died in September 2006 after a stingray barb pierced his heart.
But he is nervous and shared his feelings about the whole thing.
Robert Irwin and his feelings
It is sad indeed that Bindi Irwin does not have her father Steve alive to walk her down the aisle as she weds Chandler Powell.
And in Steve’s place, Bindi’s younger brother, Robert Irwin will hold her as she takes the steps toward the wedding aisle.
But Robert who is just 16 revealed that he is nervous to do so. He is still very young and hence is reluctant to step in his father’s shoes.
The wildlife photographer, Robert admits that he felt nice when sister Bindi, 21 asked him to do the job that a father of the bride would normally do at the wedding of his daughter. But it is a big responsibility and Robert is unnerved. Robert said:
‘It was just so sweet of you to think of me to do that… I’m nervous, I’m not going to lie. There’s a lot of pressure!
‘But I love Bindi and Chandler so much and together I know they’ll achieve so much.’
About Bindi Irwin’s wedding
Bindi and Chandler Powell have been planning their wedding for the last few months. Bindi had said that they plan a wedding later this year. When queried about the color scheme for the wedding function, Bindi replied:
“I will probably stick to earth tones.”
Jokingly, she added that she would wear a ‘khakhi’ wedding dress to match the uniform of the Australia Zoo.
Earlier while talking to Entertainment Today, she had spoken about getting married on-air. She stated:
‘That’ll be pretty cool, wouldn’t it? Should we do a wedding special? I’m excited to include our engagement on Crikey! It’s the Irwins,’
Bindi Irwin’s father Steve Irwin’s death
Steve Irwin and his family own the Australia Zoo. He was an environmentalist, conservationist, TV personality, and zookeeper. His nickname was The Crocodile Hunter.
Once while filming for a wildlife documentary in Batt Reef, Queensland, a stingray barb pierced his heart accidentally and he died instantly. This was on 4 September 2006 at the age of 44.
His children were small at that time and his wife Terri took care of the zoo and the kids; Bindi and Robert.
Bindi is now grown-up and helps her mother with zoo work. She met Chandler in the zoo when he came there from the USA on a visit.
They began dating and he proposed to Bindi on her 21st birthday on 24 July 2019 after six years of dating. He gifted her a lab-grown diamond ring and Robert who was hiding nearby during the proposal captured the moment in a series of stunning photographs.
