Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66
RIP Ron Cephas Jones! The Emmy-winning actor dies at the age of 66 as a result of his long-standing pulmonary disease.
In a 2021 interview with The New York Times, Jones revealed he has an obstructive pulmonary disease and underwent a double lung transplant in 2020.
His death was confirmed by his representative on August 19, 2023, in a heartfelt statement with PEOPLE.
“Beloved and award-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66 due to a long-standing pulmonary issue,”
“Throughout the course of his career, his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart were felt by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him. He began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and his love for the stage was present throughout his entire career, including his recent Tony nominated and Drama Desk Award winning performance for his role in Clyde’s on Broadway.”

Ron Cephas Jones is survived by his 34-year-old daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones, whom he shared with British singer Kim Lesley.
The father and daughter duo made history in 2021 both winning Emmy in the same year in the history of the noted awards program.

Ron Cephas Jones was a New Jersey-born Emmy-winning actor. He began his career as a theatre artist. In 1994, he got his first lead role in the Cheryl West play Holiday Heart.
He then since played in numerous plays. In 2022, he earned a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for “Clyde’s.”
Cephas Jones got his career breakthrough from his role in the drama “This Is Us“. He also received two Emmy awards in 2018 and 2020 for Outstanding Guest Actor for his role in the drama category.
Further, he appeared in several television shows such as the Apple+ series Truth Be Told, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Looking for Alaska, and more.
He also starred in several films like Dolemite Is My Name, Dog Days, Across the Universe, He Got Game, and Sweet and Lowdown, so on.
