Rose Hanbury breaks her silence on Prince William affair rumors
Rose Hanbury is speaking up!
The British aristocrat finally addressed the rumors of her having an affair with Prince William.
Lady Rose, 40, who married David Cholmondeley in 2009, spoke her truth over the weekend while royal fans continued to speculate about Catherine’s disappearance from the public eye.
Hanbury, via her lawyers, told Business Insiders that the affair rumors with William are ‘‘completely false.”
Though the rumors between the pair started in 2019, it reached fever pitch after Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales would be undergoing abdominal surgery in January.
Many started speculating that Catherine and William’s marriage was on the rocks after her months-long absence from public life.
Last week, Stephen Colbert even touched on the conversation during an episode of his talk show, The Late Show.
He said,
“The kingdom has been all a flutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the future King of England William having an affair,”
Referring to Hanbury’s formal royal title, he said,
“So, I think we all know who the alleged other woman is. Say it with me –– the Marchioness of Cholmondeley –– what a beautiful name!”
He even said that the word Cholmondeley is pronounced “Chumley,” before turning the pronunciation into a running joke.
Mocking Hanbury’s title, he said,
“Now there have been rumors an affair between William and the Marching Band of Chicanery since 2019,”
“According to tabloids back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off saying there was nothing to it. Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating,”
Where is Princess Catherine?
The 59-year-old comedian also mocked Prince William with a fake British accent and said, “Ha ha, imagine me having an affair! It is to laugh.”
Princess Catherine’s reps said that the royal is recovering from her abdominal surgery and would not be doing any public engagements until Easter.
The news comes just a week after the future queen posted an altered photo of her and her three kids in honor of Mother’s Day.
The photo was hugely criticized for its Photoshop failure and Instagram added an “altered photo” to it after she admitted to editing the photo.
Catherine’s apology read,
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,”
“I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
Kensington Palace did not release the unedited version of the photo.
