Why was Rudy Giuliani suspended from his law license?
- New York court suspended the law license of Rudy Giuliani
- He is suspended for giving misleading statements about the 2020 election
- He was the personal lawyer of former President Donald Trump
The former Mayor Rudy Giuliani‘s law license was suspended after a New York court ruled on 24th June 2021.
It is said that he made demonstrably false and misleading statements about the 2020 election.
He is the former personal lawyer of former President Donald Trump. The Court released,
“there is uncontroverted evidence communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020.”
The court statement wrote,
“conduct immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law,”
Likewise, the suspension of his law license marks a precipitous fall for the former New York City mayor. Rudy was once considered an accomplished and formidable force in legal circles.
But in recent years his reputation has suffered as he has come under criminal investigation by the Manhattan US attorney’s office he used to lead. However, he had denied any wrongdoing.
On 24th June 2021, he said he was not happy with the court’s decision.
Likewise, he gave an interview with NewsMax and said,
“I made all those statements — not a single one of them led to a protest, a riot, an incident, an anything. Obviously, those statements do not have the impact of creating danger.”
