Sally Field joins climate change inaction protests in Washington DC and gets arrested one week after her Kennedy Center Honors award!
Sally Field was arrested in Washington DC as she protested in the capital against climate change inaction along with Jane Fonda’s activist group. Less, than one week before this arrest, Sally was the recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors award.

Sally Field was part of the protest group against climate change inaction in the capital of the USA. The police arrested her and led her away from the steps of the US Capitol building in Washington DC. She was cuffed (zip-tied) while the police took her away.
Jane Fonda’s organization called Fire Drill Fridays posted a video clip of the incident on their social media platform. They thanked the Oscar winner for her support and for being part of the protest.
The police probably would charge Sally and others arrested at the demonstration with misdemeanor charges of crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.
Sally Field’s honors less than a week back
During this year’s 42nd annual Kennedy Center Honors, actress Sally also received an award. The famous singer Linda Ronstadt, music group Earth, Wind & Fire, and Sesame Street were also honored at the Sunday event held in Washington. CBS is, going to air the show on their channel on 15 December 2019 at 8 pm ET.
During the honor ceremony, Tom Hanks and Carrie Underwood also performed on stage in honor of Sally. Sally had said on the red carpet:
“It’s mindboggling,”
“It’s about a lifetime of accumulated resonance in the culture, and that’s sort-of hard to wrap your brain around.”
Tom was Sally’s co-star in the 1994 film Forrest Gump. He praised Sally and said:
“Sally just disappeared. She was just always the mom,”
Tom added:
“(It’s) funny, when you work, you see each other, you have a cup of coffee in the hair and makeup trailer, you go over the day’s work and what your life has been like. Because we were friends prior to that, there was no maintenance to it, there was no work. There was just that pure, fabulous sharing of the day’s requirement as actors.”
Jane Fonda’s protest rallies
Jane Fonda started the protests, against political inaction against climate change in October this year. For her Fire Drill Fridays protests, she has been arrested four times already. As the charges increase, she runs, the risk of a longer stay I’m prison. Hence she is now staying away from the protests for some time. Jane, 81 spent a day behind bars earlier.
As the temp of protests is increasing, more and more celebrities and friends of Jane are joining in. Manny Jacinto, the cast of Grace and Frankie, Iain Armitage, and many others are part of the demonstrations.
