Sara Beth Liebe quits American Idol
Sara Beth Liebe shocked everyone when she announced her departure from American Idol after Katy Perry‘s mom-shaming comments.
The young mom told co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on Sunday night after her first Hollywood Week performance of The Police’s Roxanne,
“This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually gonna be my last performance ’cause my heart’s at home,”
The mom-of-three added,
“So I’m gonna get home to my babies. They kinda need me. So thank you,”
Judges were not expecting the shocking announcement and urged her to come back and listen to what they had to say.
Katy Perry told the 25-year-old musician,
“Sara Beth, I know life is scary. I also know that it’s easier to walk away than to be rejected,”
The Roar hitmaker who shares a 2-year-old daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom added,
“But then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential.”
She also tried to relate to Sara as a mother and said,
“Remember that self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition.”
Even though she made it to the next round, Liebe decided to walk out of the competition anyway. She said she wished her babies “were a little older.”
The talented musician remained hopeful and said to the camera,
“I’m sure that when I get home, I’ll regret it,”

Sara expressed her sadness after Katy’s remarks
After learning that Liebe was adamant to quit, the Grammy nominee felt bad and let out, “Man, that sucks. It’s not easy for anyone. Everyone has their own story.”
Katy tried her best to stop Sara from leaving the competition with her good words. However, it was the joke Perry made during Sara’s initial audition that made her want to walk away.
Beth told Perry that she had three children and that her age was only 25, the Firework singer stood in shock.
Sara said, “If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m gonna pass out,”
Katy then replied, “Honey, you’ve been lying on the table too much.”
The remark went viral on the internet and for all the wrong reasons of course, the young mom took to social media to explain how hurtful it was for her.
She said,
“It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was hurtful.”
“I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool, and I think that mom-shaming is super lame.”
